Last year Djurgården started out the season with the derby against AIK and therefore played the opening game at the larger Råsunda stadium. Because of that their first real home game came a few weeks later when Malmö FF came to Stadion and ruined their party. It was start of what was to be a long and painful season for the team. This year the dates might have changed, but one thing remained the same. Malmö came and ruined the night for Djurgården.
Malmö got two goals in the first half and seemed to have everything under complete control. I was so certain that they were going to cruise through the second half that I opted to stay put at half time in a position where Malmö would be coming towards my camera in the second half. However my intuition was wrong and in the second period Djurgården came out determined to turn thing around. The managed to level up and make it 2-2, leaving me to have shot all the goals from across the pitch. Then they nearly put in a 3rd only to be denied by the post. A post that not only cost them 3 points, but prevented them from picking up even one single point.
Malmö FF striker Mathias Ranégie came to life in the 2nd period and was a continuous problem for Djurgården’s defense, making it only a matter of time before he scored the game winning goal and secured 3 points for Malmö FF.
