I was back at Friends Arena last night to photograph the World Cup qualification match between Sweden and France. Again I have to say that the work being done by Sweden’s coach Janne Andersson continues to impress. Last night Sweden stunned France with a last minute winner. In the 94th minute Ola Toivonen saw that France’s keeper had come way off his line and tried his luck from the middle of the pitch.

You know what they say?

Fortune favors the bold. His shot went in and Sweden took one big step forward in their effort to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. In terms of my fortune as a photographer, well luck was not on my side last night. I did both halves with France attacking towards me. I went into the game thinking France would walk away the winner. At half time my gut told me that maybe I should sit still and have Sweden attacking towards me in the second. Unfortunately I did not listen and moved to the other side of the pitch.

You win some you lose some.

This is the last game with the national team that I will cover for some time. The next two matches are both away matches. So it won’t be until the 7th of October that I get to see the Swedish national team at Friends again. Luckily Allsvenskan is underway so there is plenty of football to photograph.
