I just finished spending a week in Lillehammer, Norway. I was there working for Samsung which is one of the primary sponsors of the Winter Youth Olympics. The job was a bit of a change of pace as I worked doing primarily promotional and PR photography for the company.
For the Winter Youth Olympics Samsung was the official smart phone partner, providing phones to all the athletes participating. They also created 3 pavilions in the city to showcase their Samsung Galaxy phones and their Samsung Galaxy VR goggles.
My work focused primarily on capturing the experiences at the three pavilions. Covering everything from the buildings themselves, to the products inside them, to capturing people interacting with them, and even covering visits from VIP guests such as International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach.
All in all it was a great week in Lillehammer. Samsung’s staff was well organized, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Plus the experiences they created Lillehammer were genuinely very fun, attracting a lot of visitors and keeping everyone very busy. A lot of the work I did can be seen on Samsung’s corporate blog it has also been featured heavily in Korean media and newspapers.
Only PR Photography, no sports?
Unfortunately I did not get to shoot any sports while in Norway. The closest I came was an afternoon where we traveled down to Oslo and followed a crew from NextVR as them filmed the downhill halfpipe event with special VR cameras.
Thanks for stoping by.
