Shooting the Stockholm derby, in any of it’s possible formations, is always the highlight of covering an Allsvenskan season for me. It’s the one match where the arena is filled. There is smoke, flags, and flares. The crowd is fired up and if you get a clear winner you can bank on one side being in ecstasy while the other side is completely miserable. It really encompasses everything I love about photographing football.
This season I have not photographed many derby matches with other jobs seemingly getting in the way on all previous occasions. So out of 6 possible derby matches I only covered yesterday’s match between Djurgårdens IF and Hamamrby IF. The final derby from this 2017 season.
A bit sad.
