Back from my trip to Italy, where I covered the friendly between Italy and Spain, it was time to head back to Friends Arena and cover the Swedish national team. Sweden faced off with the Czech Republic in what can only be described as a drab affair.
Only some 18,000 people made their way to Friends Arena for this game. But even with the top ring completely closed that was nowhere near enough to fill out the other two rings. In spite of the low attendance the Swedish football federation had prepared a nice choreography placing yellow signs on all the seats for the fans to hold up. Unfortunately it did not really look very nice with so many gaps in it.
The game matched the atmosphere at the stadium. Neither side looking to really go all in. Sweden took the lead after just 15 minutes when Marcus Berg broke the deadlock. The Czech Republic would go to tie just 10 minutes later thanks to Matej Vydra. Both sides went on to create chances but neither was able to find the back of the net again.
That just about wraps up the national team before the Euro. They will play two more matches before this summers tournament, but only one in Stockholm. Slovenia in Malmö on the 30th of May and Wales in Stockholm on the 5th of June.
Thanks for stopping by!
