I found myself back at Stockholm Stadion photographing football on a chilly evening. Djurgården meet an already relegated GAIS in a match that really didn’t count for much. Luckily the crowd that turned up was given a good show as the second half offered 3 goals from Djurgården. Erton Fejzullahu struck twice followed by 18 year old Simon Tibbling, who scored an absolute stunner to seal the result.
I was happy to see that Expressen featured one of my images in today’s print edition, but a little disappointed with the image they selected. They ran a picture from red card situation late in the second. Bunch of players and the referee grouped together, you don’t even see the card the in the picture. I took the shoot instinctively because I saw a Djurgården player say something to a GAIS player and those situations can always be interesting for the media to speculate on what was said. Although in the shot I was a split second too late and you can’t even tell that the two players were speaking to one another.
I guess I would have to say that my instinct paid off. However I can’t help but feel that some of my celebratory shots, which are featured bellow, were a much better fit. After the match while Djurgården was celebrating in front of their supporters I thought to try and get some shoots with Erton and Simon together. Thinking it would make a great lead to a story. The 3rd shot from the bottom is what I had hoped to they would run but I guess picture editors work in mysterious ways.
As always I want to mention that you can find these images and more available via Pic-Agency.
