It’s the morning of New Year’s Eve and I ran into the office to do a little work before lunch. Being the final day of 2018 I had to make my annual Year In Review post.
2018 has been a great year for me. There was a ton of work and I closed out the year having made more money than 2017. As a freelancer trying to earn as much or more than the previous year is always the big goal that is hanging over your head as you start a new year. Having pulled it off the year has to be considered a success and now I have to try and do even better in 2019.
Financials aside I have to say 2018 was a pretty low key year. For the first time in several years, I did not travel anywhere outside of Sweden on assignment. I did a lot of traveling within Sweden but it’s just not the same as going abroad. It was also more low key in terms of the events held in the country. 2017 we had both the Europa League final and the UFC coming back to Stockholm. This past year there really was not anything special outside the normal.
I did get to finally see a Stockholm team win Allsvenskan. I’ve been doing press photography since 2011 and I was starting to wonder if it would ever happen.
I did not make many blog posts in 2018, but with all the assignments I’ve had, and a family at home, something had to give. Hopefully, in 2019 I can organize myself better and write more blog posts.
2018 also saw me moving into a new office that I share with some other photographers. I really love having the office space and a place to work that isn’t a press roon or my car.
Not much else to report, and I need to pack things up and get home to the family. I’ll leave you with my Instagram Top 9 and see you all in 2019.
