It’s been a couple of busy days. On Friday I went and photographed the World Synchronized Skating Championship at Globen. The event spanned two days, both Friday and Saturday, and while I had planned on covering both days I ended up only doing the first as I got booked for another gig on Saturday.
Last time I covered figured skating I quite liked it, but with this synchronized skating it was not nearly as fun covering. With teams of 16 skaters there just were too many people on the ice at one time. Photographing it was a constant battle of waiting for thing to line up properly and hoping you could get focus before the frame started to fall apart on you.
Saturday was a much more interesting work day where I covered the one year memorials for the Stockholm terror attack. There were too separate events. The first a church ceremony attended by the King and Queen and a bunch of politicians. The second a concert that was attended by the Crown Princess, the Prime Ministers, and others. I had a remote editor so I was sending pictures out directly from the camera which made everything much faster and easier.
On Sunday I had a little football with Djurgården having their first home match against Trelleborg. The game started out with a tribute to retired Djurgården player Kim Källström. Djurgården took the lead against Trelleborg but then let them back into the game and was then unable to score a second in order to take all three points.
Yesterday I took the morning off. My son’s pre-school was closed so we got in some much needed family time, but in the evening I made my way to Rosenbad to cover Theresa May’s quick visit to Sweden. She arrived at 17:30 and had a quick hour long meeting with Swedish prime minister Stefan Löfven. The two of them then gave a joint press conference at 19:00.
Today I’m sitting in the office catching up on invoicing and getting my things in order for the rest of the week. Tomorrow I’m covering a seminar at the royal palace. On Friday I’ve got a photo job for Sony. Then on Sunday there is the football derby between AIK and Djurgården.
