Japan: Prologue

Samurai Statue - Tokyo, Japan

In this past month I made an extraordinary trip to the country of Japan. I left Stockholm on the 3rd of May and returned home on the 20th. During my stay in Japan I visited the cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Takayama. I basked in the Japanese culture, in the food, and in the country’s amazing sights. Now having returned home I find myself with a wealth of photographs from the trip. During the next month I will share select images on this blog.

The above image is a statue of Omura Masujiro located outside of the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, Japan. The Yasukuni Shrine was created by the Emperor Meiji to commemorate individuals who died in the service of Japan. The shrine lists the names of 2,466,532 men, women, and children spanning from the 1800’s to World War II.
