I’ve been off from work for the past week waiting the arrival of our little daughter. We had a due date of October 24 but it seems like she is very comfortable in there and we are now 8 days overdue. I decided to run out last night and photograph the Run The Jewels shows. I was kind of hoping my not being home would maybe kick things off and that I would get a call telling me to come back just as I pulled into the Globen parking lot.
But nope that did not work so I had to settle for photographing the show.
This was a gig I was pretty happy to cover. I’m at a point in life were music does not matter as much to me as it did when I was younger but still I’m really happy to see that El-P blew up and finally got his just due. Funcrusher Plus was a record I really loved. It came out of nowhere and was so completely and unapologetically different from all of the rap records I was listening to back in that period. Who would have thought back then that he would be performing on late night and people would be wearing Run The Jewels Halloween costumes? So big up to El-P on all his success with Killer Mike.
